
Dr Gonesh Karmakar
Dr Karmakar graduated from the Dhaka Medical College, Bangladesh in 1990. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1996, where he was a resident for 13 years. He gained his Fellowship in Internal Medicine (FRACP) in 2008 and Fellowship in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in 2009 with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr Karmakar is a Consultant Respiratory and General Physician at St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital. His interests include investigation and management of sleep apnoeas, lung cancer, asthma, COPD, pleural effusion, interstitial lung disease.
He enjoys teaching medical students and working in private practice. He has been awarded the position of honorary ‘Senior Lecturer’ by the Rural Medical School, Toowoomba and by the University of Queensland.
